Detailed Description

Luxury Suites

Six luxury suites, each with a private viewing deck and heated spa bath overlooking the riverbed, are decorated in contemporary African design, complete with luxury furnishings, full bathroom en-suite, indoor and outdoor showers and air-conditioning. Thatched roofs, romantic mosquito nets draped over the comfortable beds and beautiful wooden finishes complete the picture of an exclusive safari getaway.

Each thatched suite is individually styled with a designer bed, draped mosquito nets, genuine African artefacts, wooden finishes and creative use of colours, textures and light. Luxurious en suite bathrooms feature both indoor and outdoor showers, while the new heated spa bath on each secluded deck offers a delightfully decadent vantage point from which to relax and watch the bushveld and abundant wildlife.

Facilities

Ideal for exclusive use by small groups, the lodge offers six beautiful suites, all with private decks overlooking the riverbed and surrounding natural bush. The lodge itself is intimate, centred on an inviting lounge and leading to an elegant outdoor dining area that rests in the dappled shade of local trees. The pool area is just out of sight across the riverbed and an outdoor boma is the perfect setting for indulging in the finest safari cuisine.

Cuisine

Delicious dinners eaten outside under gently lit trees are a wonderful experience loved by all. Here head chefs Gift Khoza and Shadrack Sishlangu concentrate on “home cooked South African menus”. These two local chefs believe in ‘cooking for friends’ and delight in personally introducing each meal. The emphasis is always on preparing dishes with the freshest ingredients and unique flavours brought together in a traditional South African way. Menus are hearty, scrumptious and deliciously different.

Safaris

Little Bush Camp′s idyllic setting makes any safari experience a memorable one. Departing pre dawn and late afternoon, two daily safaris in open safari vehicles showcase the best wildlife experience imaginable. From the Big 5 to the smallest of creatures, skilled rangers and local Shangaan trackers will make sure that the outings are filled with awe inspiring encounters.
Renowned for luxury experiences, Sabi Sabi isn’t all about phenomenal game drives and exceptional dining. Opportunities for education and adventure are definitely on the cards for those interested and energetic. On the morning environmental awareness walking safari you can be part of a small group that sets out on foot after breakfast. The walk is an opportunity to feel the pulse of Africa through the soles of your feet and experience the bushveld at close quarters.

Activities

Stargazing – A dedicated sky safari

The majority of people who live in cities are unable to observe the beauty of the night sky because light pollution prohibits any form of star-gazing. Naturally then, one of the highlights for many of our guests is a chance to observe the unobstructed splendour of the Milky Way. Sabi Sabi’s prime location, well away from city lights, means boundless stargazing opportunities, regardless of the season. All stargazing at Sabi Sabi is tailored to our guests’ requests – either by the ranger whilst on evening safari, or by one of our senior rangers who can set up a telescope and together with the use of sky maps and a laser pointer take you on a dedicated sky safari. Hot glühwein and finger-snacks are the perfect accompaniment to this special safari.

Birdwatching

Sabi Sabi is a birdwatcher’s delight – home to nearly 350 species. The reserve’s varying habitats such as open grass plains, dry woodland savanna and thick riverine bush offer exciting bird watching for novice and expert alike.

Authentic Shangaan Community Tours

For decades, visitors to Sabi Sabi have been intrigued by the local Shangaan culture and customs of nearby villages. Stories are shared by the many Shangaan staff members who call the private game reserve home; with their rich heritage, in-depth knowledge of the bushveld and local legends adding a fascinating dimension to a memorable safari.

Now guests are able to gain even more insight into authentic village life by taking part in a tour of neighbouring communities during their stay at Sabi Sabi. Homes, schools, community centres and sports facilities are participating in the tour; and the proceeds from the small fee levied to guests all go directly back to the community.
