Project Description

Arathusa Safari Lodge is sought after by visitors because of its prime location within the Sabi Sands Reserve, adjacent to the unfenced Kruger National Park. Together these two areas comprise one of South Africa’s most incredible and pristinely preserved wilderness sanctuaries.

Arathusa offers an exceptional safari experience – expect a high concentration of an assortment of game, including the Big Five, and frequent leopard sightings. The lodge is situated on a large waterhole, ensuring interesting game and bird viewing from the comfort of the camp.

Facilities within the camp include an open plan main living area, an infinity swimming pool, and a traditional open-air dining area. A luxury spa offers a wide choice of body treatments to soothe the body, relax the mind, and indulge the senses.

Detailed Description

Water-facing and Bush-facing Luxury Suites

There are nine (9) water-facing Luxury Suites within Arathusa’s main lodge perimeter, overlooking the waterhole. Each Suite is uniquely designed, with fresh interiors and a focus on light and space. Each Suite has a bathroom en-suite, with shower, as well as a private outdoor shower. Private verandahs overlook the waterhole, for full appreciation of Arathusa’s signature feature.

Arathusa has 4 bush-facing Luxury Suites which are remotely located, away from the lodge. Each of the bush-facing Luxury Suites has its own plunge pool and verandah, and affords guests with the advantage of privacy within the untamed wilderness. Each unit also enjoys a lounge area within the extensive open plan unit, as well as indoor and outdoor shower.

In keeping with the traditional and natural safari experience, there are no televisions in the Suites at Arathusa. Guests are, however, able to send or receive e-mails from the public areas and reception.

Additional amenities in the Suites include a mini bar (stocked with a selection of beverages), an electronic safe, hairdryer, air conditioning, direct-dial telephone, mosquito net and tea/ coffee making facilities.

The lodge is an intimate one; its open-plan design and natural building materials allow it to blend harmoniously with the African bush surrounds. The main living area is intended for comfort. Whether quietly reflecting on the view, reading a good book, or enjoying conversation with friends or fellow safari goers, the warmth and charm of the lodge environment is the foundation of the Arathusa safari experience. The infinity swimming pool overlooks the waterhole, and is the perfect spot for wildlife viewing while cooling off on a sweltering African summer’s afternoon. Arathusa’s Safari Spa offers guests a comprehensive spa and wellness experience – indulge in luxurious pampering and relaxation, while answering to the call of the wild.

Guests can enjoy an alfresco dining experience in the traditional open-air boma (a brick & grass enclosed dining area), while being serenaded by the sounds of Africa’s creatures. Sumptuous cuisine is the order of the day. Meal times at Arathusa are a sociable affair, and guests are treated to sumptuous dishes, fresh produce and daily baked confectionery from our kitchen. Enjoy traditional South African cuisine in the outdoor boma, or stunning four-course fine dining at the lodge under the expert direction of the chefs. Arathusa also offers a range of superior South African wines.

Private landrovers with experienced rangers and trackers head into the bush in the early morning and late afternoon in search of Africa’s Big Five, and more. The more active will enjoy a guided bush walk with one of Arathusa’s experienced rangers.
